Vladimir Putin sends greetings to participants, organizers, and attendees of the International Transport and Logistics Forum
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin sent a video message to the participants of the International Transport and Logistics Forum, which is being held at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre in St. Petersburg on 1–3 April.
Welcoming the Forum participants, Vladimir Putin noted that transport and logistics issues are key to the global economy in current conditions, and that these sectors are undergoing profound changes and facing serious geopolitical challenges.
“An increasing number of countries and companies are taking a serious look not only at the speed and cost of transportation, but also at the safety and sustainability of transport routes and supply chains as the decisive factor, as these are less susceptible to crises, military conflicts, and other external risks. Russia can offer such solutions to other countries and play an important role in shaping a new architecture for global logistics and international trade in general. Russian logistics routes can be beneficial for our partners, both economically due to reduced transit times, and in terms of diversifying global transport flows,” Vladimir Putin noted.
According to the President, we need to keep an eye on processes that are unfolding right now, including in artificial intelligence, and plan decades in advance. “This concerns the development of key logistics corridors at a qualitatively new technological level and, of course, the introduction of advanced modes of transport,” Vladimir Putin added. He pointed to the vital role of robotics and autonomous systems in freight delivery and the operation of airports, train stations, warehouses, and freight terminals. Russia intends to use digital platforms to integrate all elements of the transport services market, create bodies to oversee unmanned systems and logistics, implement unified transport documents for international shipments, and establish near-constant monitoring of infrastructure and vehicles.
Vladimir Putin noted that Russia is prepared to share experience, conduct joint programmes in science and technology, and train specialists capable of ensuring the development of transport and logistics in the 21st century using new technologies.
In conclusion, the President of the Russian Federation announced that the International Transport and Logistics Forum would be held on a biennial basis going forward.
