The Manege Museum and Exhibition Complex, with the support of the St. Petersburg Committee for Culture, presents “All Benois – Everything Benois”, a large-scale project of several museums that is an encyclopedia of Russian art told through the lives and legacy of one of Russia’s most brilliant creative dynasties.
The exhibition centres around the art historian, artist, set designer, curator, art critic, and educator Alexander Benois. It also features works by other members of the dynasty: Leonty, Nikolai, and Albert Benois, Eugene Lanerat, and Zinaida Serebryakova.
In addition, the exhibition includes works by their contemporaries – Konstantin Somov, Ilya Repin, Konstantin Makovsky, Ivan Aivazovsky, and others, revealing the interconnections of artistic approaches and common aesthetic reference points.
The exhibition features over 600 exhibits – paintings, black-and-white works, sculptures, costumes, documentary materials, personal belongings, and household items, carefully put together as part of an original curatorial concept.
More than 60 Russian museums and private collectors contributed to the project.
