Development Through Access to Global Markets

April, 3
13:00–15:00
Plenary Discussion
Global Connectivity and Transport Corridors
Congress Centre, conference hall D1
Global disruptions in logistics are pushing Russian companies to actively develop foreign transport infrastructure, helping them ensure goods get through and strengthening economic ties with Africa in the process. A wealth of experience coupled with objective geo-economic factors mean African countries are ready to work into logistics routes leading through the Suez Canal or around the continent. Russian companies boast a wealth of their own experience and can offer their African partners a full range of solutions ranging from the design and construction of infrastructure (railways, terminals, ports) to ready-made equipment and technology. The result is equal access to Russian agricultural products, fertilizers, medicines, and humanitarian aid and minimal disruption to the supply chain. Furthermore, the digitalization of transport corridors through satellite monitoring, electronic customs systems, and intelligent solutions for barrier-free highway toll collection translates into booming commercial growth with the possibility of investment in modernizing African networks, increased trade, and sustainable logistics corridors in a multipolar world. Where do the potential opportunities for greater connectivity between Russia and Africa lie? What strategies exist for developing transport routes and infrastructure and integrating them into the global network? What are the potential economic benefits for the countries involved?
